How to sound less choppy and speak with flow in English
My clients are amazing- really! These women have moved to the US, landed powerful jobs, and bravely stepped outside of their comfort zone. But they still don’t feel like themselves when they speak English. Lots of second- guessing happening. 🙋♀️
Anytime someone asks me how to improve their American English rhythm, I tell them the American T secret.
This one letter has 5 sounds! But when it is at the end of a word, we use the STOP t. It’s like you almost pronounce the sound, but you don’t release the air.
Try this: —>
Practice words: Habit, Get, Date, Let, Start, Don’t, Want, That,
Practice sentence: I have the habit of starting too close to the due date. I don’t want to let that happen anymore.
Record your voice trying to fully pronounce the T and then record again while focusing on not letting out the air. Do you see a difference?
It is my mission to help immigrant women feel proud of their voice in English. You can be your authentic self!
